Cariboo Folding Bassinet Review

This has been such a good investment! I bought this bassinet after deliberating and comparing it with several others for a few weeks. I love it. It fits right next to our bed, so he is close by at night. We live in an apartment and don't have room for a full sized crib in our bedroom, and the crib has been taking a long time to ship overseas and has yet to come in (we are at an APO) this bassinet came in only a month, which is fast for our location.

I ended up with a c-section, and the height and depth of this one makes it easy to pick our baby up and put him back. Obviously, its a bassinet and won't last beyond a few months, but it manages to create a small comforting space as bassinets are meant to do while still being big enough to last a few months.

I love:
- That it is foldable and not that heavy.
- The canvas is breathable.
- That there is a changer component that you can add which is great for diaper changes!

- The Colgate mattress included is rated very highly in the US.
- My baby seems very comfortable sleeping in this at night.
- The canvas seems cozy, and as it is all white, my son doesn't get over stimulated by looking around.
- It is very sturdy.
- The wood is renewable, there are no petroleum products used to make the bassinet itself.

I Like:

The crib mobile I bought from Pottery Barn fits on the cross piece - my baby loves to watch the little elephants in the mobile.
The height is perfect for adding the changer, making diaper changes quick and easy, as its a great height to stand and change the baby without taking more space for a separate changer or trying to get down on the floor after a c-section or taking over our dresser. Highly recommend adding the changer if you are short on space! Also, I can continue to use the bassinet as a changer and store diapers etc in the bassinet below after my son is too big for the bassinet itself.

It's fairly portable because of how lightweight it is.

I don't love:

The price. It was the price that stopped me from buying for several months. In the end though, I think it was a well made investment. And from looking on Craig's list and ebay, it retains its value and can be resold at a good price.

The mattress - while it has an excellent safety rating is still covered with vinyl. I added the Naturepedic bassinet pad so our baby wouldn't be sleeping directly on the vinyl through the sheets.
