I purchased a dragonfly panel like this over 10 years ago while on vacation in Cape May, NJ. I needed a second one to create a balanced view in my kitchen. This is simply beautiful. Excellent craftsmanship. The item came expertly packaged and was in PERFECT CONDITION upon removing from the box. hanging hardware was including and this made a world of difference. I ordered two for my office. Both were delivered on time with Prime shipping by UPS, and both were damaged beyond function. Requested an exchange for both through Amazon, which went flawlessly, until the replacements were delivered by FedEx. Again, both filing cabinets were damaged beyond use. Gave up and requested a full refund. I don't believe this was an issue with Amazon, or the individual shipping companies. These cabinets weigh about 130lbs, and both UPS and FedEx only have one man truck crews. If Amazon is going to continue offering large, heavy, bulky, but easily damaged items like this, they should look into using a courier that can promise safe delivery with a two man delivery crew, even if it takes a few more days.

HyLoft 164 96-Inch by 48-Inch Super Pro Ceiling Mount Shelf, White Review

I'm very pleased with this shelf, which is well-made, rigid, and well painted. However, I have certain observations/caveats.

* My version of this shelf appears rather unlike the picture on this product. I got mine from globalindustrial.com, which was by far the best price at the time (no problems with them, incidentally). My shelf seems to match the look of the one on the HyLoft web site, so perhaps what I got is just the new and improved model. Mine has much more substantial-seeming stiffening bars under the mesh of each of the four 2'-wide elements of the shelf. It has no central beam as shown in the pic. My shelf also has a degree of diagonal cross-bracing. I take all these differences to be good things. All told, this shelf are very strong-seeming. I've loaded it up and swung on it monkey-bar fashion, and the deflection seems acceptable to me.

* There's talk in the product description of the mounting height being from 24"-44". In fact, you can make it pretty much as short as you like without any problems, simply by using only the lower part of the leg and cutting it down as much as you like. This would likely be necessary if you're wanting to mount tight up under a significantly sloping roof.

* The instructions were entirely sufficient to allow one to install the shelf, and the whole installation process was very easy. However, I think that the major flaw in the instructions concerned how best to set the height of the shelf. I'd think that anybody who gets shelves like this is really trying to eke out every last inch of space, and so will probably try and set the shelf as low as possible. Given that (in my case, as noted above) there are stiffening bars hanging BELOW the frame of the shelf, it's important to take this extra height into account when siting the shelf frame. This was obvious to me (though not necessarily too easy to measure accurately), but may not be to others. If you don't have your wits about you, you might end up setting the shelf so that your garage door bumps into it. This is especially true given that, when raised, most garage doors end up ABOVE the tracks they run on. A little slip in your calculations and you could ruin your garage doors. I'd think that a bit of bold text in the instructions would be worthwhile to cover this topic.

* The adjustment holes on the legs would be much more useful if the holes were drilled twice as frequently. The strength would not be significantly compromised, but it would be much easier to set it up. It's trivial for the manufacturer to drill holes, but the average home-owner is less inclined and/or able to drill through chunks of steel.

* The swivel at the end of the mounting legs is designed to track the rafter/joist to which you're mounting. If you're mounting to a horizontal-running joist, or to a normal sloping rafter (such that the sides of the rafter are plumb, and the axis of the rafter slopes up to the peak of the roof), then things are fine. However, if you want to mount to something that isn't plumb on at least one face, then you're out of luck. The same problem would occur if you wanted to mount the shelf up under any sort of domed roof with a radial raftering pattern.

* I live in California, where having things be seismically sound is considered important. Even though my shelf came with diagonal braces to run between the legs on the short side, there was no extra strapping to allow you to brace the shelf to the wall. In my case, because I shortened the legs significantly, I had enough material left over that I was able to cook up some extra seismic strapping. At least for fault-line residents, this product would have been better had it come with an earthquake kit (or had one available at extra cost). Imagine this shelf, which already weighs about 100lbs swinging around with its 600lbs load, and you can see what I mean.

Shun Ken Onion 2-Piece Carving Set Review

I am a professional Chef with 36 years experience and have always loved my Henckels. My knives are my tools.

I bought this set as a wedding gift for my nephew. When I unboxed the knife (to put a penny in the box for good luck) I took the knife out of the box and was very impressed with the balance, grip and edge. It is not stamped. It is not part of a starter set. It is not for peeling carrots.

I was so impressed, that I promptly ordered one for myself and retired my 10 year old Henckels carver. I did a prime rib at home last week and could not believe how well this knife carved. I was able to do English cuts like I was cutting butter.

I did a side by side with my Henckels that was just back from being professionally sharpened. The Henckels was Triple A and the Shun was MAJOR LEAGUE. If you have the nerve to step up with the big boys, this is a real knife. It will last a lifetime. Really.

I'm sold. My next knife will be another Shun.

Home Styles 9001-0044 Create-a-Cart 9001 Series Cuisine Cart with Black Granite Top, Black, 32-1/2-Inch Review

I bought this cart for use in my small office. I was going to go for a bigger cart, but I decided to stay small since I read that the bigger ones tended to be more flimsy. Plus the granite top is a nice touch, and won't get dinged up as easily as wood.

I'd like to rate this 3.5 stars, but I'll be nice and round up. Here's the scoop:

Packaging & Inspection

The product was secured in the package. The granite top came is a separate package, a crate inside a box. All the parts were there and in good shape--no obvious blemishes. The granite top was in mint condition. All but one of the parts were labeled.

Assembly
------------
Assembly was pretty typical of this type of furniture. You don't necessarily need two people to do this, as long as you're strong enough to maneuver the granite top all by yourself. Overall it took a couple hours start to finish. Some points:

- You WILL need a drill. Like other reviewers found, not all of the holes line up. In my case, I had to widen the holes on one side panel at the base about 1/4" in order to get the bottom to fit together. Minus one star for that.

- Like other reviewers said, DON'T PUT ON THE CASTERS FIRST. Your life will be a heck of a lot easier. Put the casters on after you have the cabinet assembled, but before you put the granite top on.

- You have to adjust the position of the granite top in order to get the holes in the cabinet to line up with the pre-drilled holes in the top. The caffeine I drank earlier had worn off about halfway through, so it took a little time for me to figure it out.

- I had some trouble getting the drawer to fit in the cabinet. It turned out that they had mislabeled the stickers on the two drawer side pieces, meaning the wheels of the guides weren't in the back. The wheels have to be at the back of the drawer! Minus half a star for that.

- The drawer doesn't align perfectly, i.e. it doesn't close tightly on one side (open about a 1/4")

- The door alignment is slightly off. I don't have OCD, but if you do it could drive you nuts. You can always re-drill holes, but at that point I just wanted to get the thing together so I could get on with life.

Overall, I'm fine with it. It's definitely better than leaving my kitchen stuff all over the floor or piled on top of my microwave! It's also quite sturdy. It's not going to get a lot of heavy use, but for what I need it's definitely worth the price.
