The Sandusky Lee KDE7236-07 is a steel cabinet with four adjustable shelves and a 180 lb. per shelf capacity suitable for the storage of items. This cabinet has two hinged doors with full-length welded stiffeners for strength, and a keyless electronic locking handle for security. The keyless electronic lock has two programmable passwords, one for the administrator and one for the user and, for security, keeps records of when the unit was accessed. This wall cabinet comes with an external back-up battery to run the electronic keypad during a power failure and with two identical auxiliary bypass keys for use if electronic lock fails. The shelves in this cabinet adjust in two inch increments to accommodate the height of stored items. The floor surface on this cabinet is raised and level with the front lip for ergonomic purposes and it can be used as a fifth shelf. This cabinet has a putty-colored powder coat finish to resist chipping and corrosion. The assembled cabinet measures 72 x 36 x 18 inches (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) I purchased this cabinet because I liked the idea of it snapping together and not requiring putting screws in inaccessible locations. Also, the keyless electronic coded lock appealed because the cabinet is being used to store items that are required to be under "lock and key." The cabinet was relatively easy to put together; my wife and I did in under two hours. We only made one error which was easily remedied, and that was because we didn't read the graphic instructions carefully. The cabinet is reasonably strong and when locked is reasonably difficult to enter. The electronic lock works quite well. I would have given this item a five star rating except for the packaging. The packaging is quite flimsy and not adequate given the weight of the steel parts within it. As a result some of the parts were dented, but I was able to straighten them out so that we could complete the assembly. Overall we find it to be a good purchase but not pleased with how it was packaged; the parts simply were not adequately protected.
